I guess that Scott only had to die for a split second for the connection to be broken.

I still think washing off the blood would have been a good alternative.

Nice to see Grandfather doesn't know everything, especially considering his world view's pretty bleak.

Re Anonymous's comment - yes, that was my thought too (the die-for-a-second part). A lot of old folk beliefs, magical practices, etc. come from the days before we had CPR and other means of bringing back people who were technically dead.

Washing off the blood would have been unlikely to work - have you ever tried to get every last trace of a liquid out of a porous substance (like wood in this case) that it's had a lot of time to soak into? Good luck with that...

WV: thwer: the distinctive sound made when trying to spit over one's right shoulder to avoid the evil eye.

Darren-
Thank you.

Presumably, a shotgun blast could wipe off all the blood from that board, not to mention most of the board ;D

Peter has lifegiving lips. Ew.

Yep, but he was probably out for a good couple of minutes.

Todd -
Yup. There's a considerable amount he DOESN'T know...

Misslynx -
Yup, there's no way they could have gotten off the blood.

Even if they had, the blood was more of a triggering device rather than an essential ingredient. Like the equivalent of a nuclear launch code instead of a car key in the ignition. (ie you can remove the car key, but you can't recall the missiles once they're launched.)

But the second batch of blood merely rebooted the system, allowing for a new batch of Inaratu.

Mary -
My pleasure!

Um the Muse -
Definitely mess it up some, anyway.

Alex -
EWWWWWWWWWW.
