Hahaha, I love Dill. I totally had this friend when it comes to Thanksgiving. My family goes all out when it comes to holliday feasts, so we usually end up cooking enough to feed an army. Which is a good thing because we usually end up with neighbors over and me and my brothers always end up inviting over a few friends too. One of my friends was a horribly annoying guy who made bad jokes out of everything, and my mom hated him coming over because she thought he was the most annoying person ever. He had thanksgivings like Dill, so when my mom found out, he got a standing invitation to Thanksgiving. My mom has probably regretted it since then. lol.
Bah. My Grandmother is an awful cook, so Thanksgiving involves eating just enough to make sure no one thinks I'm anorexic ("You've lost so much weight since going to school, are you eating enough?") and then grabbing edible food later. On the plus side every fours years Thanksgiving is my birthday too.
I can't wait to see what's happening in this story. Cow murders? Sounds like werewoooolves. I wonder who it's going to be, another student? Crazy towns person? Hmmmmm...

Oh Dill makes me chuckle here, the poor guy. I don't know if what he said was true or just really trying to come over. But he did make it sound very bad.
So how many chapters till Dill pisses himself, I saw about 10 chapters in. Any takers?
I wonder who it's going to be, another student?
If some random person were writing this, I'd bet on some student we'd never heard of before, especially some exchange student from Hungary or Romania. Fortunately, some random person is not writing this. I sort of hope it involves an already established character, but no obvious candidate comes to mind.
Dill's dad. He'll get bit by "some crazy dog" and then turn into a werewolf. And Dill obviously wont know his dad was missing at thanksgiving because he was at Peters house...
OK
1- Elenore is from the movie{the book is better} The Haunting (1999) and the reason i brought it up is the children's voices in the move are always calling Elenore, and trying to warn Elenore, and they are scared for Elenore, and in the end they thank her over and over for saving them and releasing them from the house, similar to whats happened in the last story. And there all soft and whispery.
2- Yes the purple haired, box headed, hard nosed sister in the picture. She tend to save her brothers but, who is a bit like Dill, gets himself into situations that a little too big for him to handle.
3- I thought the happy ending was that they weren't being sucked into withered shells of their former selves anymore. {say that five times fast - sucked into withered shells of their former selves - heh, hey i said fast! :P}
Dill's brother, I could sort of see. It might improve his manners, but that's not saying a whole lot.

Wow! It's like the real-life version of Dill, except probably a little older!
Rai -
Aw...bad Thanksgiving food seems so sad...

I'm pretty sure Dill was 95% truthful on that one.
And it'll be awhile this time...
Todd -
I appreciate the compliment! As for whom the werewolves will be...hmmmm...
AnakMoon -
Hmmmm...
Oh, yeah! I saw that movie! Lily Taylor! Now I remember...the book is by Shirley Jackson, right?
I have to admit, you have put a fairly happy spin on the ending. You should counsel Peter, he could use the cheering up.
Todd part 2 -
Hmmmm...
heh yeah not a bad movie.. but its a bit creepier int eh movie, there are carvings all over the house of children's heads and they move and turn and watch you...
As for whom the werewolves will be...hmmmm...
I suppose a key factor is whether the condition is reversible. Hard to imagine a major player still stuck with lycanthropy after this story. Of course, even though she went away, Mercy didn't stay a vampire.
Aww, poor Dill.. sounds like Dill is looking to get adopted. Next up Christmas... That'll be fun for Peter's mom.
Lance.
Darren, could you check the link for podcast #9 on the podcasts blog? When I click on it, it doesn't take me to the audiofile.
It may just be me, but previous podcasts work fine for me.
AnakMoon pt 2 -
I remember that! That WAS creepy.
Todd pt 3 -
Hmmmm...
Lance -
I think he's just looking to get fed...but you're right, Christmas will probably be more of the same.

Try it again - I ran into a similar problem one out of the three times I tried it; Windows Media claimed the server wasn't working or something. But the other two times it worked okay. Let me know if you continue to have problems with it...and thanks for telling me! I have no idea what people's experience with the podcasting stuff is like, so feedback is good.
Rai- If you can, try offering to "help out" and bring a dish of your own (one that IS edible.)
They'll back off and you won't have to make excuses!
Maybe we can share recipes on here in honor of the holiday being written about? LOL
Darren- What do you think?
And man is Dill a HAM...although he's probably (somewhat) telling the truth and that just makes me sad.
When I was in college my friends who couldn't go home for the holiday had a standing invite to join us at ours (which was a family reunion too.)
Mary -
That's a really good idea! Are you listening, Rai?
I'm down with the recipes, but how's about we do it closer to Thanksgiving? WEREWOLVES will take about 2 1/2 months, so we should end somewhere around Thanksgiving. If anybody wants to in the week before, go ahead and share your recipes for Vampire Kabob or Fondue a la Grimoire. Or just Sweet Potato Pie.
Dill is a survivor who can live through just about anything - remember that. He's also a master opportunist and manipulator who will milk those bad events in his life to get an extra ice cream sandwich. Remember THAT, too.
Sounds like you had a good family!
AHHH! I just caught up on the last few chapters. The ending to the carnival was awesome, but Grandpa having the mirror disturbs me.... a lot. He's too secretive.
And... ZOMG werewolves! I totally love werewolf movies. American Werewolf in London (the OLD one. Not the Paris remake thing... never saw it) was amazing. Saw it as a kid. Creeped me out worse as an adult. lol. Silver Bullet is also an amazing werewolf movie. So, yeah... I'm excited!
