And im wondering why the guards testimony, let alone the manner in which the display case for the mummy was opened isn't being questioned.... that is an avenue of questions i would like the museum guys to be asking...
oh and peter needs to upgrade to a phone with a camera in it and if his has a camera in he needs to learn to whip that thing out!! Im surprised gramps hasn't asked that of peter so he can see what peter is facing not just the stories, he is the master of physical information, is he not? Well that library would argue with you... if you said no that is :D
Go Grandfather! But did he just speak in defence of... Dill? And admit he was wrong about him? OK, who's the doppelgänger and where's the real Grandfather?!
All's fair in negotiations. For example, that moonrock is almost definitely not from the Smithsonian. Most moonrocks came to Earth naturally (asteroids bombarding the moon), whereas the Smithsonian's samples are from the Apollo project. Can you tell my Daddy is quite the space buff? ;)
So, Grandpa actually saying good things about Peter's friends is not so strange. Especially since he did just save Peter's life (and Gwen's, if Grandpa cares).
About the sprinklers, you might just have them come on soon after the police walk in. I think it would be funny, and you wouldn't have to explain anything.
AnakMoon - New material for the "I Heart Grandfather Fan Club"!
Well, it's only one day after the attack...and unlike in previous escapades, where the damage done was in the low thousands, you're talking about potentially MILLIONS of dollars with the destruction of the mummy and the theft of the moon rock...and so it's a lot crazier.
Dang it, that's a really good point about the camera phone. I think I might have to work that in...
Cat - I know, huh? The world is coming to an end!
Alex - Good eye! And all is explained today!
Um the Muse - True, all IS fair in negotiations.
I figured the rock was on loan by the Smithsonian, and it came from a lunar mission.
WHAT?! Grandfather saying good things about Dill ISN'T STRANGE?
WHAT STORIES HAVE YOU BEEN READING?
I might do that sprinklers bit in the rewrite...
PS to all - nobody is amused/incensed that GF referred to Gwen as looking like a devil-worshiping hippie just cuz she wears black?
PETER AND THE VAMPIRES is a horror/comedy web novel (and a free podcast!)about a normal, 10-year-old kid who moves into a sinister town filled with supernatural horribleness. The series is composed of different "monster of the week" stories - kind of like THE X-FILES crossed with THE SIMPSONS (if Mr. Burns were a ghoul and something terrifying lived in the town dump). "Peter And The Dead Men" is the first story in the collection. A new page is posted every day.

Note the missing moon rock...
