Did I miss something? The previous page ended with Gus telling Peter how he heard his friends dying, then it seems to jump to Gus answering a completely different question - possibly about the walking corpses?!
The man's look wasn't particularly threatening, or mean, or anything like that. In fact, Peter would have said it was a blank stare, almost peaceful. But the man made no attempt to hide the fact that he was watching Peter, which was a little creepy. He just stood there like a statue as the snow settled lightly on his denim jacket.
The new development sheds light on why Gus wasn't standing there with arms outstretched in a big hug. Still, like Charlie, he pretty well redeemed himself.
The thing about boiled peanut stands still sticks out, kinda sorta.
Darren- If the story makes me tear up, it's not necessarily a bad thing. It just means that it's a good story! (That and I'm a gal who cries at EVERYTHING ;-) ) I just hope that Gus comes out of this knowing that he repaid his debt.
PETER AND THE VAMPIRES is a horror/comedy web novel (and a free podcast!)about a normal, 10-year-old kid who moves into a sinister town filled with supernatural horribleness. The series is composed of different "monster of the week" stories - kind of like THE X-FILES crossed with THE SIMPSONS (if Mr. Burns were a ghoul and something terrifying lived in the town dump). "Peter And The Dead Men" is the first story in the collection. A new page is posted every day.

DANG IT! Good catch. I reposted just now, adding in the missing half-page.
This is a good argument for not posting when I'm exhausted...
Thanks again, Cat!

Hahaha! You and the boiled peanuts!
Okay, I'll take them out of the print version.
And yes, I think Gus is actually a pretty cool guy. He definitely redeemed himself in my eyes.

Awwww. Okay, that's cool.
