I like how the werewolf is lecturing his friend about werenerds. If I wanted not to turn into something, Dill is about the last person I would take advice from.
Being rather nerdy myself, page 36 made me chuckle. I'm proud of Peter for turning in the phone after finding out that the good doctor may not be all that he seems. But, why didn't Grandpa take away the phone? Is he just a big cheapskate and "cellphones are evil" was just a convenient excuse, or is he planning on taking it from Peter after Peter finishes spying on Dr. V? “It’s not spying, it’s intelligence gathering. Do you think you think you can do that without making him suspicious?” Has an extra "think you" in it.
I swear, I enjoy reading the comments almost as much as the story. Again, I'm really enjoying the pace of this story. It's building up, but not too fast.
Besides, I bet the science club is helping build the Frankenstein... even if they don't know it!
V. Word: reshn. Past tense. Having been in a really really REALLY big hurry. ie: We were reshn to get it done, and almost made it.
Todd - WERENERDS. Here's the pitch: a bunch of jocks, every full moon, suddenly turn into rampaging packs of bespectacled, gangly guys in white, short-sleeved shirts and pocket protectors.
Awesome.
THF - Yes! Dill is awesome sometimes. I also like that he knows who Jane Goodall is...kind of. Except he mixes up the chimp and ape part.
And yes, I know he COULD be referring to Diane Fossey, but GORILLAS IN THE MIST isn't exactly Dill's cup of tea.
Um the Muse - You can join the Werenerd pack!
I think he believes that if he takes away the cell phone, it will make things more difficult with the Dr. V situation. Plus, HE didn't have to buy it, so...
And maybe he's coming around to realizing that some good ol' 20th Century technology might come in handy, given what's been going on lately.
(Yes, I know we're in the 21st century now. I think GF wants to be in the 19th.)
And thanks for the "think you" note! Corrected it right away!
Andrea - Good! Keep making good comments, everybody!
Yeah, these last couple of stories have been slow-builders...
daymon34 - That's how the jocks in WERENERD know they're infected! They have weird dreams about symbols and howling at the moon - and then start to do really well in math class without even trying!
PETER AND THE VAMPIRES is a horror/comedy web novel (and a free podcast!)about a normal, 10-year-old kid who moves into a sinister town filled with supernatural horribleness. The series is composed of different "monster of the week" stories - kind of like THE X-FILES crossed with THE SIMPSONS (if Mr. Burns were a ghoul and something terrifying lived in the town dump). "Peter And The Dead Men" is the first story in the collection. A new page is posted every day.

I love how Dill just has to make his point come across. "Nerd! I mean you!" It makes me smile.

Quick Peter run from the werenerds, if you get bit you will start liking math and then it's all over...
I wonder what Grandpa and Doctor V worked on. Probably taking out something that just shooting it wouldn't have worked.

As for what they worked on together...hmmmmmm...
I enjoyed the Jane Goodall part. Now Dill just has to demonstrate knowledge of Joan Embery gleaned from Hollywood Squares reruns.

Darren, I think you just solved the mystery of Stonehenge.
