I'm glad to see the story is going to continue beyond the original four parts promised, and although I'm sad that Mercy had to leave, I'm going to keep coming back for more. (And to think, when I first clicked on the link that led me here I thought it would just be a silly kid's story just because the protagonist was young!)

Oh... My... God...

Mannequins?!

Those things already freak me out. But I'm sure you're going to freak me out just enough so that I believe there is no hope, then BANG! They win and all is awesome and may I say well written and described like all the rest.

:D

I'm glad you've kept on coming back! And that's my biggest hope, that people initially think, "Oh, it's just a kid's story," and then find a lot more to it. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy MANNEQUINS! (PS - If everything goes well, the PETER stories will be going for quite a while...)

YES! I was incredibly freaked out by mannequins as a kid, mostly because of one Levi's commercial I saw. Peter mentions a variation of it in the story, so I won't spoil it here. And there was also a SPIDER-MAN cartoon where he was attacked by several mannequins - that freaked me out. I've been planning this story for awhile; you can check out page 37 of PETER AND THE DEAD MEN for confirmation.

Thanks for the praise! Hope you enjoy the next installment!

I'm hooked. I'm thoroughly enjoying this little series, and thrilled that it's not always Grandpa showing up to bail them out at the last minute (I have to admit, I was afraid of the, briefly.)

Excellent stories!

Thanks, Andrea! Yeah, Grandfather will save their hides from time to time, but Peter and Dill are going to be a little more self-reliant from SWAMP MONSTER on...

Sorry for not posting comments lately but things have been busy. The boys enjoyed the rest of the Swamp Monster and I'm happy to report no more bad dreams from the youngest. Thanks for your kind words and advice to him. You keep writing and I'll keep reading to them. :-))

Now the Mannequins I find creepy, ever since one particular Doctor Who episode. Just so it's not clowns.

Poor Peter, that poor boy has more bad luck than any five grown people. That or good luck as he gets to walk away from it, when they are all done.

This line struck me as funny: “I don’t want my truck smelling like frog guts,” Grandfather said as he climbed into the cab.
