If I were them I really wouldn't pull off to the side of the road at night, with zombies around.
All this yelling reminds me of the 5th Harry Potter book. "Caps Lock Harry" really made getting through that book a chore.
I also been wondering who's been paying the phone bill for Peter's cell phone since the Doc is in jail/mental hospital? Also how did he not lose or break the cell phone in the avalanche? It's doubtful he could have dug himself out of an avalanche since it's very difficult/almost impossible to do, but then maybe the blessing helped.
WV: plighted past participle, past tense of plight (Verb) 1. Pledge or promise solemnly. 2. Be engaged to be married to
Jennifer: LOL at your VW and your description of angry Harry. Very true. About the avalanche though: they were up in the trees and sheltered behind the sled. The snow was, evidently, thin enough for them to break through on their own.
Andst: Morbidly angry; andst always leads to a revelation that an otherwise healthy character is about to die.
Wow...Grandfather's choice of words stopped ME in my tracks. Why do I get the feeling that he doesn't just mean the Grim Reaper? Ad it's Grandfather, he can't just have some disease.
Yes, Peter was a bit out of sorts in this one. Luckily for you, you only had to endure 30 pages of caps lock instead of 500.
Ahhhh...the cell phone was created in true pirate fashion by Dr. V. Remember? He jury-rigged it so it worked on bits and pieces of data, never needing to be paid for.
Cell phones is sturdy.
True, in a real avalanche you're basically buried alive, and the snow supposedly becomes as hard as concrete after everything stops moving. But as you pointed out, it's a whole lot easier when you've got a golden hula hoop Indian blessing to help you out...
Um the Muse - You got the "escaping the avalanche in the Peterverse" mechanics down exactly.
Rai - Welcome back from the hospital!
Sorry there was such bad news to greet you, though...
Mary - Grim Reaper? Hmmmm...I've got to do a story about THAT one...hadn't even considered ol' G.R.
PETER AND THE VAMPIRES is a horror/comedy web novel (and a free podcast!)about a normal, 10-year-old kid who moves into a sinister town filled with supernatural horribleness. The series is composed of different "monster of the week" stories - kind of like THE X-FILES crossed with THE SIMPSONS (if Mr. Burns were a ghoul and something terrifying lived in the town dump). "Peter And The Dead Men" is the first story in the collection. A new page is posted every day.
