Confusingly reasonable mad doctor is confusing. Also reasonable. But Peter's thought processes nicely show how Dr. V. IS crazy, just less obviously so than...others.

I guess either Peter or one of the others will try to stick Dr. V. with the poison, but he'll be immune to his own venom (as all well-prepared mad scientists should be). From there it's anyone's guess.

It's a bit unnerving to see just how much power Dr. V. still has: over Prescott, over the boys, over the other inmates...he's a dangerous man, that's for sure.

Peati = The nickname Peter REALLY WSHES Dill hadn't found out about. Probably Beth's fault.

Oh dear. I'd though he was just tranquilizing the other patients, not killing them. Then again, tranquilizer darts might wear off too soon, so I have to admit I can see the value in the pragmatic approach.

But still... In some ways Dr. V is peculiarly likable, and I have to admit to a certain fondness for him, but he definitely has a disturbingly ruthless side.

Typo: "Some slinked out like lizards" - should be slunk.

It's awesome the way Dr V talks with all the science jargon. It really makes him sound sane and educated. Not for him the foaming-at-the-mouth and gibbering of the less-cultured psycho. I also love how what he says makes perfect sense and you find yourself agreeing with him, and the way Peter's trying to decide how much to agree with him while constantly reminding himself of the body-part creations and why Dr V is dangerous. Also gotta love the way Gwen shows how much brighter than Dill she is (not that that's too hard for her).

Yeah, if you hang out with insane people, it's a little disconcerting how convincing they can sound. From my admittedly limited experience, their version of events can be just as logically consistant as the next person, it's just what they "experienced" that got them there is farfetched.

I want to know how he got his hands on the poison in the first place, though. That's potent stuff he's handling!

Rubberduck -
Eminently logical!

That's part of what makes him so disturbing.

What?! Iocane powder?! Inconceivable!

As for all the people he's controlling, well...Dr. V...he a playa, yo.

Eminently practical!

I'm actually very fond of him, too. He's one of my favorite villains to write.

I gets to use big words when he talks.

Cat -
Thanks!

(Also thanks to Todd, who noted the same in an email.)

Would you like to know my inspiration for Dr. V?

I wanted an evil mad scientist...but a nice one. I figured I needed a cross between Hannibal Lector for the sociopathy, and Dr. Honeydew from THE MUPPETS for the sweet nature. (That's why Dr. V is bald and has big glasses.)

I guess that makes Prescott something of a blue, psychotic Beaker.

Um the Muse -
Eminently convincing!

As for the poison, he MADE it! Just some Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Hydrogen! Shake it up, stir it around, hydroliguizathalimize it...and presto!

It's not EXACTLY the same as the real stuff...but it's pretty close.

Dr. V gangsta, yo. OG for realz.
