It was Peter who became the leader. I think you gave it away when you had the other mannequins looking at him after he took out Grimoire.
At least Grandpa didn't shoot anyone yet.
OK i gotta bring up what stormy did, I don't remember Grimoire moving his mouth when he talked, in fact the way describe him was that half his mouth was melted and the "lips fell away in a mutilated scream," so his lips melting in the furnace shouldn't have changed his ability to talk/scream/moan.
And speaking of the furnace... you had best bring up how scorched and burned Peters hands are from closing the metal door of a furnace that has been burning for hours if not days and months. I'm not sure about you but every furnace with a metal door i have ever seen, used, been around, you have to wear one of those gloves to close the door so you don't burn your self.

I was hoping you guys would think the mannequins would want to kill him because he killed Grimoire. I'll have to make that a little more frightening.

Ohhhhhh, you sticklers. Fine, I'll address those issues...
i hate to be such a pesky stickler, its things like that that make me pause and re read and laugh at the author/editor in my head when im reading a book, im a natural born editor.. its amazing to me how many errors get into major books, esp some, shall we say, popular vampire series....

I'm just teasing you. I actually appreciate your suggestions very much (and anybody else's). If anything, I'm just annoyed with myself for not thinking of it when I was writing the story...
Heheh for once it's not me pointing something out :D Loving the creepy mannequins by the way - am hoping grandfather tells Peter the history, but I get the feeling he'll keep shtum on that for a while!
