Nice parting shot, Dark Peter! And whodathunkit, that was the right name for him all along. We can but wait with bated breath for the next time Normal Peter is in a fix bad enough it can only be solved with help from his Hyde.

Recinos = A Greek philosopher, shrouded in obscurity these days but noted in his time for concluding that the only way to truly know one's identity was to act as far out of character as possible, and see what felt wrong - thereby realising what felt right. Mr. Pillsbury has evidently studied his work well.

Hey Darren, we appreciate all the time that you put into writing this. We also understand that real life gets in the way sometimes. Besides, this update was awesome.
Hey, since Peter's mom got sick too, does that mean that her darkside is still out there, somewhere?

I think the food poisoning was just a freak coincidence to keep Peter away while Dark Peter wreaked havoc.

Nice update, I love how Dark Peter was all maniacal and once Peter figured it out was just "Oh Sh-"

And Rubberduck, your v-word is awesome!!

So the Mr. Hyde theory proved right. Now the remaining question is how this was possible. It seems unrealistic that this happens always (in the story world) if similar situations arise, that would be quite often on a global level. There should still be some sort of yet to be defined catalyst involved. The most likely would be "the curse" or the "food poisoning" (which might simply be the side effect or symptom of the effect caused by the spell/potion on it).

Anyway as Gwen's interference today was only in Peter's imagination, this still doesn't answer whether Gwen cheated or if Peter really got lucky.

@Darren: compared to the huge amount of delivered pages the few missed updates are IMO irrelevant. A warning or short explanation instead of the update would have been nice though.

"Sorry about the lack of updates, guys. Life got crazy for a few days."

It happens. A lot of people died this week. Just glad you are alive and well.

"Anyway as Gwen's interference today was only in Peter's imagination,"

No, that was right before the imagination took over.

That said, I really really really hope some eyewitness is able to spare Peter a predictable but exasperating eternal punishment for what the Doppelganger did.

todd you are right, I thought the Doubleganger meant the first impulse to strangle him (on the last page), but obviously it must have been one AFTER Gwen's attack. So Gwen probably shot his evil side and the jump to the side was meant to make it impossible for both to witness that. The spot where the "Doubleganger missed" probably was Peter's own attempt then.

Wow, for one of the few times that I was right, I really wish that I wasn't *shudders*

Wow - really interesting way for it to turn out, but I have no idea how on earth Peter's going to sort this one out without having his life completely destroyed. There's a limit to what even Grandfather can accomplish...

Well Peter is going to have one nasty crap storm to deal with. And I don't know how any of this is going to go away quitely.

I hope that things become stable for you, take it easy Darren.

Now the truth can be told: I was in Thailand and Cambodia on business for the last two weeks, and internet connectivity was spotty sometimes. That's why I didn't update as much as I would have liked, or warned you guys. But I'm back in LA now.

Rubberduck -
And he WILL be back. Not for awhile...but he WILL be back.

Um the Muse -
Thanks!

Naw, Peter's mom luckily escaped the Doppelganger side effects of the bad shrimp fried rice.

Rai -
Yep, you nailed it.

Eldoran -
Weeeeeelllll...kiiiind of. Technically, Hyde was a transformed version of Jekyll - same body, different personalities. Dark Peter really is a doppelganger - a completely different body, but with a suppressed facet of the main personality.

And yeah, I think you can blame the Curse for just about everything that happens in these stories.

Todd -
Thanks!

An eyewitness? Hmmmmmm...

Mary -
Wow! 'Shudders'? Evil Peter is THAT BAD?

Cool.

misslynx -
A limit to what even Grandfather can accomplish?

Hmmmmmm...

daymon34 -
Thanks, man!
