Okay, Mr. V. seems much nicer now. And he's a Mr. Exposition! Though I found his comment about 50 cent words unintentionally hilarious - Fiddy uses words like lycanthropy all the time (in his day job as Blade).
Let's have a mad theory! Dr. V., though very jolly, is secretly furious about the loss of his hair. He'll try to adapt Dill's werewolf strain to give him a fine head of flowing locks, but something will go wrong and BY MAGIC we'll end up with a monster.
As for Dill and the needles...best bet is to try and distract him with food and then take the sample when he isn't expecting it.
Tammis - an Irish word meaning "the state of irony brought about by a bald man inspecting a hairy boy".
Oh Dr. V how right you are. All my parent's children are growing up to become (or have become) doctors in one way or another. Listening to us all when we come home at Christmas time and seeing the looks on their faces... :) 50 cents words as he put it.
This also brings new problems into the situation. I'm fairly certain Melissa will notice Dill's new hair cut at some point or another. Does this mean that a bite will make you all "Rawr eat you" werewolf, whereas a scratch will only make you a fuzz ball? And... does Dill have a tail?
Darren, I thought Dr V was creepy and dispassionate because of the way he was treating Dill like an object. eg: "Is this it? Is this the specimen?" And even after he acknowledges that Dill is sentient ("He’s retained his cognitive abilities and has perfect speech"), he still treats him like a specimen.
But he's redeemed himself by sticking up for Dill about the needle. Ugh, hate needles! Not that we know he's motivated by compassion. There could be another reason. Also, couldn't it be dangerous to stick a needle into someone who's resisting?!
V-word: glycena. A medical condition arising from having a hypodermic needle jabbed into the wrong place and tearing a muscle or ligament.
PETER AND THE VAMPIRES is a horror/comedy web novel (and a free podcast!)about a normal, 10-year-old kid who moves into a sinister town filled with supernatural horribleness. The series is composed of different "monster of the week" stories - kind of like THE X-FILES crossed with THE SIMPSONS (if Mr. Burns were a ghoul and something terrifying lived in the town dump). "Peter And The Dead Men" is the first story in the collection. A new page is posted every day.

I understand Dill not liking getting blood drawn, can't say I like it much either.
Grandpa use to getting the job done no matter what, now he has to play nice for our good doctor.
I like how Peter tries to get Dill to be a tough guy, I give him points for trying at least.

Wow the Doctor just got so much respect from me with three simple words.

Are you joshing me, RD? You're talking about acclaimed tax dodger Wesley Snipes, aren't you?
And yes, I think Dr. V is going to try to improve on propecia/the Hair Club For Men.
Love the word.

Yeah, Dill's resistance is basically based on my own hatred of needles...

Ha ha! You folks 'n yer learn-ed ways...
Well, remember, when the moon goes away, so does the fur...
Tail? Maybe a little stubby one...

I think he was just excited. And he was referring to Dill mostly as a specimen when he first arrived, not when he got to know him better...
Look at you, all suspicious...
