Dr. V is unnervingly perceptive...

And somehow, even knowing he's undoubtedly mixed up in all kinds of horribleness, I can't help but like him.

V-word: Ourgle: an especially potent variety of moonshine distilled in Uzbekistan from rye that has been cultured with the ergot fungus.

There they lie
Crispy, ancient and they leak
Formaldehyde

Frog leg fry
Blood-charred, blue-plate special this week
Crisp bacon-fried.

V-Word: iltrofi
Ancient Egyptian delicacy consisting of frogs-legs wrapped in crisp bacon rashers. Serves many.

Poor frogs. I'm so glad classroom dissection's not common over here.

Dr Veedermeier has gone past creepy to sinister. Partly his overt warning that he knows when someone lies, partly his control-all device (who knows what else it can do?!), and partly the way he's trying to cover up his lie but clearly knows the game's up! :P

VW: snerier. A re-animated corpse charged with the sacred task of sniffing out lies and revealing the truth.

He does have that strange duality about him, doesn't he?

Todd -
Nice.

On a related note, I thought about doing a story where Dill and Peter have to do haikus in class, and Dill starts talking in them all the time. Haven't been able to figure out which story to work it into, though...

"Dude, I see you can't
Finish all that food yourself -
So give it to me!"

MistyCat -
Ewwww...

And yet, now I'm hungry for bacon...

Cat -
All the way to sinister, huh?

Yep...he got a little too relaxed with the lies, thinking he was home free...

That was Buffalo Tom, not so much haiku.

Yes he is really good at reading people, and is reading Peter like a book. As soon as Peter's trust goes down he tries to cover up his mistake. That's slick, and not in a good way.
