PETER AND THE VAMPIRES is a horror/comedy web novel (and a free podcast!)about a normal, 10-year-old kid who moves into a sinister town filled with supernatural horribleness. The series is composed of different "monster of the week" stories - kind of like THE X-FILES crossed with THE SIMPSONS (if Mr. Burns were a ghoul and something terrifying lived in the town dump). "Peter And The Dead Men" is the first story in the collection. A new page is posted every day.

Jax to the rescue again!
I feel really bad for him, actually, because he's been nothing but nice to Scott, even at serious risk to himself... but bad things are almost certainly going to happen to him, since Scott resents him dating Jennifer so much. Being a Nice Guy[TM] can be a pretty thankless job, I guess.
WV: sores - Hey, no fair, that's an actual word! How am I supposed to have any fun with that? Well, maybe it only looks like the English word "sores", and it's really Latin - sure, that'll do. Related to soror, meaning "sister", it's the genus name for a variety of parthenogenetic lizard found on certain Mediterranean islands.
Uh-oh. At least he brought a weapon, but he doesn't have any salt or other magical protection (don't ask me "why salt?"--it's always salt, for some reason).
Also, ditto what misslynx said. Maybe Peter can save him, though.
Basher: She used to be one of Santa's reindeer. The steaks are good, but boy will we miss her.
Please, Jax is protected by his shield of rightousness. It's like a shield of faith, but more secular and non-denominational, because Jax is totally cool with other people's religions. And yeah, Jax continues to be an awesome guy.
I think the knife from the kitchen was to draw blood rather than a weapon. I agree, Scott is totally unprepared for this. (Should have asked Jax, he still has his notes from when he infiltrated that cult.)
Retostin = A protein, only recently discovered. Its purpose is to regulate and channel testosteron. This makes the man, not more manly in the traditional sense, but more mature, noble, and interesting. Keep an eye out - you can always notice someone with adequate amounts of retostin.
Jax, of course, has a very considerable blood concentration of retostin. What a guy.

That's true, salt is the go-to mystical weapon. As well as being a seasoning.
