PETER AND THE VAMPIRES is a horror/comedy web novel (and a free podcast!)about a normal, 10-year-old kid who moves into a sinister town filled with supernatural horribleness. The series is composed of different "monster of the week" stories - kind of like THE X-FILES crossed with THE SIMPSONS (if Mr. Burns were a ghoul and something terrifying lived in the town dump). "Peter And The Dead Men" is the first story in the collection. A new page is posted every day.

Oh man, I had a nightmare of something like this. It's in the top two scariest nightmares I've had, and it's how I thinkof the personification of death.
Ah, so THIS is what's under the beds in Peter's world...obviously it has to be something special to occupy this prime monster real estate when there's so much competition!
And I remember another animated shadow - Dark Peter, who ended up inside Peter by a process suspiciously similar to how this demon moves...
Predictions you say? Very well! The demon is heading, not for
Mikes house, but for Peter's - to fill him with an avenging spirit, since that's what Scott expects and since it also can't directly act in the physical plane.
Dourime = An elf in Gaelic legend, who singlehandedly stopped the war against the Norse invaders by showing them his heroic spirit and impressing them with his quiet courage. Some legends say he has been reborn in a faraway land, but that would be ridiculous, surely...

Can you imagine the realtors in the supernatural part of Peter's world?
"And here we have a lovely Queen size bed, with lots of room...this is a wonderful location with a particularly neurotic 7-year-old to scare..."

As for the board and the candle, nobody ever went down in the basement except to get Christmas decorations or luggage for a trip. And nobody wants to travel any more.
