PETER AND THE VAMPIRES is a horror/comedy web novel (and a free podcast!)about a normal, 10-year-old kid who moves into a sinister town filled with supernatural horribleness. The series is composed of different "monster of the week" stories - kind of like THE X-FILES crossed with THE SIMPSONS (if Mr. Burns were a ghoul and something terrifying lived in the town dump). "Peter And The Dead Men" is the first story in the collection. A new page is posted every day.

Nice try, Dark Peter, but I kind of doubt that anyone would believe your 'this old teacher broke my bully-brutalising arm' story. And I'm guessing most of the kids wouldn't back him up, either.
I went to school because I enjoyed it...at that age, anyway.
If this really is some otherwordly beastie, does this markt the first time that that side of Peter's life has directly interfered with his Normal life?
Platc = The Aztec god of being nice, getting along, and religious tolerance. One of the lesser-known deities.
For the first time ever, I'm actually a little scared, haha. Im worried for Peter and Dill (God, I get attached to characters, how pathetic am I?!)

How far is this side of Peter going to go? And where is the REAL one?
Yet what Dark Peter says is so true - those in authority only have as much power as the kids give them (up to a point, anyway!). It's sort of one of the major characteristics of fascist regimes: keep the general populace too scared to fight back, because if they ever do then you're in trouble, even if you do manage to kill a lot of them first! (Of course that can also be applied to democracies, only in a more subtle way.) It's intriguing that Dark Peter's realised this and argues about it so eloquently, and more than a little chilling :)
WV: basium. A newly-discovered element, identified as the principal component of rebellion.
I think the scariest thing about this story is what kind of consequences the normal Peter (if you'll pardon the expression) is going to have to deal with when he comes back/recovers/gets exorcised/whatever.

I got that because I would daydream in school about how easy it would be for all the kids to take over. 30 to 1 odds, baby...
And it's pretty amazing how much power humans give up to people they are taught are 'authority figures.' People in power only have power because we allow them to have it, either voluntarily, out of habit, or out of our apathy towards taking it away from them.
Unless they're like Gwen and have guns.
