Hmm there are several plausible (in the PatV - universe) variants of the evil doubleganger theme. The most obvious connection would be IMHO grandfather's recently revealed "relative" and the curse. The Chinese takeout food poisoning is a bit too convenient, so this should either be the catalyst for evil Peter's existence or the method to keep him out of the way. The "alien" thought is probably the moment the doubleganger made mental contact to be able to impersonate him or the moment "he" became aware before they split (depending on which creation method happened).
The other ways I can think of usually would require yet unmentioned components.
Anyway there are still a lot of different variants that would fit into the story and produce no paradoxes and especially the first assumption could be false, as it is technically part of the last story.
If I'm not mistaken, then
"Grandfather" has still not heard about the "completely white eyes" - probably the best hint to the nature of evil Peter.
This is easily the most I've ever liked Melissa. I hope it's the start of a trend!
