I'm really curious how a feline creature would manage to drive the metal spikes that precisely into the wall - unless I'm mistaken, there were no opposable thumbs mentioned and the mouth seems a bit unlikely, just as holding the spike with both paws while sitting.
I was wondering how he stuck Peter to the ceiling by his boots - snow demon crazy glue?
Worried about Peter getting frostbite - hope there's some unchewed boots lying around in the spoils. And now Dill will be minus a jacket...after he falls on top of Peter...
Eldoran - I hadn't considered it, but my guess is he has opposable thumbs. After all, he walks on two legs, and no other felines do that. (Except that cat on Youtube.)
Besides, who said he DROVE the spikes in? See below...
Rai - Yep.
Fiona - Ha HAAAA! This was one of those cases where I tried to put in the pertinent information earlier on, albeit in a very off-tangent, unexplained way.
Remember when Stu pressed the two icicles together, then let go, and they fused together? When you press ice together, the pressure causes it to heat up slightly and turn to water (a very thin layer, sure, but water nonetheless). Then, when you release the two pieces of ice, the lack of pressure allows the water to re-freeze.
I figure that's what the Snow Demon did in both cases: He pressed Peter's boots HARD into the icy ceiling, causing ice to melt, and when he let go, the water froze the boots to the ceiling.
And the spikes were probably pressed HARD into the icy wall of the cave, melting the water, and then letting go so the spikes froze into the wall.
And for anyone saying nay, as Rai pointed out, he picked up a tree. In fact, he pushed it over, splintering it with his bare hands. I'm figuring Daddy is preeeeeetty powerful.
Fiona and Cat - Actually, frostbite will be a very real danger as we go along...
PETER AND THE VAMPIRES is a horror/comedy web novel (and a free podcast!)about a normal, 10-year-old kid who moves into a sinister town filled with supernatural horribleness. The series is composed of different "monster of the week" stories - kind of like THE X-FILES crossed with THE SIMPSONS (if Mr. Burns were a ghoul and something terrifying lived in the town dump). "Peter And The Dead Men" is the first story in the collection. A new page is posted every day.

Considering Daddy picked up a tree, I'm assuming he has opposable thumbs.

Even without opposable thumbs, Snowy could probably hold a spike in one hand if his hands are like a rat's or a monkey's - he's big enough!
I second the frostbite worry, though I reckon hypothermia would be a better way to die than eaten alive by a snow demon.
WV: Brook. Hey that's a real word, no fair! :D
