I'm also internally chuckling at the image of Poppa's face fault.
Hormin = A very special type of protein that causes 'testiculata ferra', coded for by the elusive 'courage gene'. Most of the really crazy heroes have a hormin imbalance.
I think a better explanation for the Snow Demons' whispers is to avoid being hunted. As for the avalanche, it sounds (no pun intended) like you've got all the right ingredients, anyway. It has recently snowed, there's a steep slope, and the snow's probably under a lot of strain.
Oh yeah that's some ride, if they boys make down just fine I think the whole camp will talk about the ride for months to come. Even if they don't know about the yeti.
Talk about heart stopping fun, don't panic Peter you are doing fine.
Darren- If you ever come down to FL. go check out the Expedition Everest Ride at Disney's Animal Kingdom I'll never be able to get on that coaster again without thinking of this particular story arc.
Emote Control - Yeah, I'll have to address it in the rewrite...I originally completed the pages with the loud noises triggering the avalanche, and haven't been able to rewrite it.
My theory, though, is that yetis are more stupid than most humans, and most humans think shouting triggers avalanches, and therefore the yetis believe the same.
However, the rewrite will have Stu make some mention that it's hogwash, but Peter knows better.
Um the Muse - Secondary benefit (the non-hunting), I guess. Although I don't think Papa's too worried about hunters.
daymon34 and everybody else - Check out this crazy POV video of a skier actually getting caught in an avalanche. I based some of the visual descriptions on what you see in the video:
PETER AND THE VAMPIRES is a horror/comedy web novel (and a free podcast!)about a normal, 10-year-old kid who moves into a sinister town filled with supernatural horribleness. The series is composed of different "monster of the week" stories - kind of like THE X-FILES crossed with THE SIMPSONS (if Mr. Burns were a ghoul and something terrifying lived in the town dump). "Peter And The Dead Men" is the first story in the collection. A new page is posted every day.

Man. Pete just cannot catch a break, can he? Although trying to outrun an avalanche is a new one!
Do a barrel roll!

I mentioned this before, but it's an urban myth that loud noises can set off an avalanche. It just doesn't happen.

Unfortunately, the FAQ below the video also will necessitate some rewriting of the ending...
