Yay he might believe them! (No guarantee though!) Maybe we'll find out he's had suspicions of the carnival already.
As for Eng pretending amnesia, I don't think that would work. He's already demonstrated far too much lucidness as Gwendolyn, what with her able to account for what happened and knowing who Dill and Peter are (though I wonder if "she" could say where they go to school?!) and remembering about the "bet". Probably a bit late now though, no one's going to believe them after this except maybe Grandfather!
I don't know if it was an intentional slip, but in the last chapter, "Gwendolyn" called Peter a little kid--even though they're supposedly in the same grade level.

Just got back from camping and man am I glad Grandfather showed up! I know he'll believe them. After all this carnival comes to town every year, and they steal a kid from every town (I think), so grandfather must suspect something! I hope...

I loved the movie! You have a great reading/speaking voice and it helped the visualization along. I'm going to forward the video to my friends a post it on my facebook because I think a lot more people need to read this series.
And hopefully Grandpa will believe the kids.

In past cases, I'm sure nobody prodded too deeply. In Gwen's particular case, given the two options - selective amnesia, or a mirror sucked out her soul - which one is most likely to be believed?
Sure, Peter and Dill could prove that Gwen wasn't right in the head - but nobody's going to accept the REAL truth. And, as with most adults in Peter's world, they'll just go with the most convenient real-world explanation.

Yeah, Eng doesn't know their names, so he's referring to them as 'that boy' and 'the little kid' (Dill).
