PETER AND THE VAMPIRES is a horror/comedy web novel (and a free podcast!)about a normal, 10-year-old kid who moves into a sinister town filled with supernatural horribleness. The series is composed of different "monster of the week" stories - kind of like THE X-FILES crossed with THE SIMPSONS (if Mr. Burns were a ghoul and something terrifying lived in the town dump). "Peter And The Dead Men" is the first story in the collection. A new page is posted every day.

Courage is all very well, but the trio really should have had some sort of plan. Their opponents did!
I guess the shotgun is usually Grandfather's plan. I wonder if he has any ammo left.
Have I ever mentioned how much I love this story?
There aren't too many authors I know of that will post a second chapter early, just 'cause they know they're going to miss a day, either.

I think you're right: the plan typically is "let's go in and see what happens."
Of course, Peter had a plan in SWAMP MONSTER, and he still got eaten alive...
