Its quite funny how helpless Peter and Dill are in this situation. I mean Peter usually relies on Dills references to movies to make sense of a situation and come up with a plan, unfortunately Dill is dumbstruck by admiration. And given his bad luck, Peter could suspect the power, implied murder, the initiation and the mysterious cow mutilator might be related. I have to admit, that he doesn't know there are supposed to be werewolves in the story. The real clues available to Peter were in Kyles story (the bright moonlight, silver, acute smell, passing out for a nightly kill, Chubbs strength and the howling). Fortunately he doesn't need to know which monster is after him to know to avoid it.
No, I wouldn't expect them to feast on the cows, but as I pointed out Peter knows that any supernatural shit happening in the vicinity has a good chance to get him caught right in the middle of it. IF Peter would put the clues together that Kyle turned into a werewolf, he would probably see the connection to the cows, but Peter has seen or read much less about anything supernatural than Dill. Besides the important thing right now is to get away from them as they are unlikely to get rid of them without help and Peter is trying to do that anyway.
PETER AND THE VAMPIRES is a horror/comedy web novel (and a free podcast!)about a normal, 10-year-old kid who moves into a sinister town filled with supernatural horribleness. The series is composed of different "monster of the week" stories - kind of like THE X-FILES crossed with THE SIMPSONS (if Mr. Burns were a ghoul and something terrifying lived in the town dump). "Peter And The Dead Men" is the first story in the collection. A new page is posted every day.

Dill is a (censored) moron.
Peter realized that maybe now was not the best time to probe into what sounded to him, for all intents and purposes, like a murder.
I really like that line. Also Chubbs howling without any apparent self-consciousness.

Thanks for censoring that!
Cool. Glad you liked it!

You as the reader have an immense advantage over Peter in that you got to read the title.
He's still figuring it all out. And would YOU, in real life, believe that a bunch of frat boys were killing cows?
